What is Hey Shoo WOW?
PODCAST: What is Hey Shoo WOW?
Let’s start with a brief introduction into what Hey Shoo WOW is all about because you may not have heard of the term before.
The way I see Hey Shoo WOW is what most people would call woo woo, or what they used to call New Age or self-help. It’s basically anything to do with spiritual healing or holistic healing, mind-body-spirit healing.
I’ve been on this path for many, many years. I probably started out in my late teens when I was reading books like:

The Origin Story of Hey Shoo WOW
In the mid 1990s there was a Jazz band in Cape Town in South Africa called The Truly Fully Hey Shoo WOW Band.
They were made of a group of guys who played various different instruments who were all at the top of their game led by a guy named Dave Ledbetter (who sadly passed away recently). The band disbanded many, many years ago, so I’m sure it’s not a problem that I’m using the name Hey Shoo WOW in my movement.
I’m not sure if they coined the term or if it’s just something Capetonians said. And I think Capetonians, when they said the word Hey Shoo WOW, they were kind of meaning natural highs. And if you look at how the Truly Fully Hey Shoo WOW Band was, they were exuberant. They were fun. They were vibrant. They were vital. They were just an amazing band to watch. They had this really high energy vibe about them.
And so I think that they were here to raise the vibration of the planet. And that’s one of the things that I believe I’m here to do as well – raise consciousness.
And that is what all of my work is about. I work with your mind, body, spirit, and how we can raise our consciousness and remember who we are as the light beings, the light and love and joy and beauty that we really are deep inside.
That is what my message is and what Hey Shoo WOW is all about.
5 Core Principles of Hey Shoo WOW
Principle 1: Remember Who You Really Are
When you were born, you were pure love, joy and light. You had an essence that was given to you by God, Your Creator.
And this essence has always been there, is always there and will always be there.
It’s your Spirit. It’s who you really are.
You are an infinite Being of love, light and joy.
We just get caught up in the world and forget who we really are.
Our Hey Shoo WOW movement is about remembering who we really are.
It’s about being the Light, Love and Joy we came to be.
It’s about generating natural highs.
I encourage you to bring the energy of playful curiosity to this movement.
So as you’re making this commitment to yourself, I also want you to know that loving yourself – LOVING YOURSELF – feeling compassion for yourself, forgiving yourself is also crucial in the journey to self-love.

We are going to be working through your personal challenges.
We are going to be working through difficult emotions.
And so you might have some tears. You might feel some anger. You might feel some frustration. You might have some resistance coming up in doing certain processes.
I invite you to work through that and to just be self loving, self forgiving, and compassionate with yourself.
And work when you’re in the mood.
When we heal something, the healing only really happens when we’re loving those places, loving those places of us that are wounded, understanding that anything that could be going on in our lives is temporary and we can shift it when we own it, when we take responsibility for it. It doesn’t have to be ours forever, we can LET. IT. GO.
Principle 2: You Are NOT Your Thoughts or Emotions
In the same way, thoughts and emotions come and go. They are transitory.
What you may be struggling with is what I call a “sponsored thought” – something you think so often it’s become a belief you hold about life, someone or an event.
You’re thinking it so often that it’s become the thought that is creating your universe around you.
Because when you have a very solid sponsored thought, something that is plaguing you every day, that will tend to create whether you have a good day or a bad day. It will influence your day, and your weeks and your months, and these sponsored thoughts can go on for ages.
So, we do the inner work to get to that root cause, that sponsored thought that is bugging you, and affecting you and influencing what’s happening in your life because once we shift that thought, everything can shift.
And sometimes its an entire collection of thoughts, causing ruminating thoughts, that cause sleepless nights.
Principle 3: As Within, So Without
Our inner world creates our outer world. Our thoughts and emotions become the universe we live in. Thoughts become things… especially thoughts coupled with strong emotions.
We think that all of our problems are outside of us, that this is causing our problem, or that is causing our problem, or something way back in the past is causing our problem, or something in our recent past is causing our problem, but actually all we have is this present moment and our inner self,
So it’s not so much what happened, it’s about how we are reacting, responding, thinking about and what emotions are coming about when we think about that thought.
When we think about that event that happened, that circumstance that happened. And once we can think differently and turn around that thought, that event will start to feel different. And that will make all the difference for you.
So we figure out what the sponsored thought is and then we do an NLP technique called reframing or a technique called scripting.
Scripting really helps when you’ve got a whole lot of thoughts that are plaguing you, plaguing you, things that are keeping you up at night, ruminating thoughts. It’s often called ruminating thoughts where you have one thought leading to another thought, and then it gets you all in a tizz.
Principle 4: You Are Your Own Healer
I cannot heal you any more than I can digest the meal you just had. You are the person who is most active your own healing. You are responsible for your own healing.
I can help you move into a place that where you feel ready to heal yourself and that healing may happen spontaneously.
I can help you heal or deal with past traumas or limiting beliefs, I can recommend natural solutions to health problems you might be experiencing.
The tools I teach may ignite a healing process for you. And that is my role to play as a healer.
So I can help you shift things forward. But you are your own healer. You are your own best friend.
You are the person who can give yourself radical self love and the person who can take radical responsibility.
And by taking this course I’ll be encouraging you to do both.

You’re not going to get much from me sitting here jabbering away to you. You’re going to get way, way, way more from actually doing the inner work I set for you.
That’s where you get it. It will only seep into your body and your soul and your heart when you actually do the work.
And that is how you shift.
That’s where the transformation comes from.
That’s when the healing happens. This is an experiential course.
Knowledge is not power – APPLIED knowledge is power.

Principle 5: Let Go and Let God
In this course, we are going to let go of things that no longer serve us.
We don’t have to hold on. We don’t have to feel guilt or shame. We can let go of all of that.
We don’t have to feel sorry or have any regrets because whatever we shift here in this community, life has brought us to the point where we are ready to shift this.
And it doesn’t matter how long it took us. All of that was necessary. This is about divine timing.
Everything that happened had to happen to lead you to this point, to get this transformation, and it’s all good. It’s all okay. Even if it doesn’t feel all good. Even if it doesn’t feel all okay.
Especially right now, as you’ve sat and maybe worked through the Mood Check Form and figured out what you’re challenged by and what emotions you’re feeling.
Just know, everything is temporary, there’s a season for everything, and now is the time to shift this thing that you’ve chosen to shift.
And hand them over to God, or whatever you call your Higher Power, your Maker, your Creator, the Universe.
God is here for you, has never left you and will never leave you.
And know that as I am here for you and holding space for you too.
