If you’re planning a visit to Cape Town, South Africa, you might enjoy this list of my favourite meditation spots in Cape Town.
My guess is that many travellers to our magnificent Mother City would prefer to avoid the noisy hustle and bustle (and queues) you might find when you visit the typical tourist attractions.
Many visitors come here seeking solitude and peace, a retreat where you can relax, unwind, and meditate.
Best Meditation Spots in Cape Town
It’s peak season in Cape Town from November to February, which means most spots are crowded and busy right now.
Popular beaches like Clifton, Camps Bay, Muizenberg and even Boulders Beach near Simonstown where you go to see the penguins are crazy this time of year. As are popular tourist attractions like the V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain.
If you came to the Mother City to escape the rat race you’ll want to escape all that madness.
If you’re looking for the best meditation spots in Cape Town, here are some hidden gems where you can go to relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of the surroundings in our magnificent city.
Travel Tip
The easiest way to get around Cape Town is by car, especially if you want to visit places that are a little off the beaten track. You can get affordable car hire through SANI Car Rental when you arrive at Cape Town International Airport.
Tranquil Meditation Spots in Cape Town
Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach is one of my favourite beaches because it’s one of the quietest and beaches around. (I may be a bit biased because I live here).
Sunset Beach is a suburb of Cape Town but it feels more like a little seaside village. It’s one of those rare places where it’s easy to feel like you’re on a permanent holiday.
It’s nestled in between the bigger suburbs of Milnerton and Blouberg, most tourists just drive on by. Sunset Beach doesn’t have the Lighthouse, Golf Club and Restaurants Milnerton has or the strip of restaurants and bars you’ll find at Blouberg Beach, and therefore doesn’t attract as many beachgoers, windsurfers and kitesurfers.
There are parking bays on Isabella Road, the closest road to Sunset Links Golf Estate, and from there, walk left, towards Table Mountain.
On this pristine stretch of beach, alongside Sunset Links and Milnerton Golf Course, you can walk safely to Milnerton Lighthouse if you choose.
Which makes this beach perfect for meditation or a quiet meditative beach walk.
I’m a big fan of walking meditation, as you’ll see in many of my videos on my social media channels.

Travel Tip
Please note that not all beaches in Cape Town are safe. Sometimes vagrants and pickpockets are hiding in the dunes. If you get to a beach and it’s very quiet and remote, please leave all jewellery and valuables in the boot or cubby hole of the car and have a travel partner looking out for you while you meditate.
Green Point Urban Park
A labyrinth is one of the best places to do a walking meditation, and you’ll find one in Green Point Urban Park.
Although Green Point Park is often abuzz with the sights and sounds of children playing happily, there are many beautiful hidy holes and fragrant gardens in the park where you can sit quietly and meditate.
The Vineyard Hotel
The Vineyard Hotel in Newlands has a stunning garden with a little stream that runs through it, which makes for a perfectly tranquil outdoor meditation zone.
They also have just as gorgeous and relaxing indoor spaces.
The Vineyard is also home to one of Cape Town’s most gorgeous Health Spas, Angsana Spa run by Lyniel Traut. In 2023, I joined in on some of the Health Days Lyniel ran in The Vineyard’s poolside Splash Cafe.
On the health day pictured below, my friend Adriana Rainho Goldman led deep diaphragm breathwork Yoga and I led a meditation very similar to my Guided Meditation for Reversing Age.
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
No visit to Cape Town is complete without a visit to the gorgeous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and it’s full of wonderful quiet nooks and crannies where you can meditate peacefully.
One of my favourite places in Kirstenbosch Gardens is Colonel Birds Bath because it’s shaded, tranquil and so idyllic that it has an air of divinity.

You’ll queue to get a cable car up Table Mountain this time of year, but did you know that there’s a beautiful tranquil, shaded hike up the mountain from Kirstenbosch Gardens, called Skeleton Gorge?
And along this hike, there are plenty of tree-topped spots where you can stop for a rest and some meditation or prayer.
I haven’t done this hike in a while, so I can’t track down my photos, but you can find gorgeous photos and great hiking tips on the Secret Cape Town website.
